Well, perhaps that is a little too melodramatic. My silence on this blog for the past month is actually due to the fact that we have moved house. This has been, as you might imagine, a lengthy and traumatic process. The more severe part of the experience has been moving into a place which is a good deal small than our original home. I would never have imagined the mental and physical effort involved in getting rid of stuff for which there is no longer a space. I believe that we have been created honorary life-members of our local authority recycling centre.
The good news is that the new place does actually have a room designated as my studio. The bad news is that in the six weeks since we moved I have had no opportunity to use it as such.
I do continue to have an artistic life in at least two respects. I am delighted to be able to report that my work has been accepted for exhibition during next month at a small gallery in London, and I expect to have more to say about this in a subsequent blog. May is my opportunity for a solo show at the South Square Centre, where I am showing the Set Apart series. What is more, my curatorial skills are being tested by the need to select and position work in our now house. That’s an interesting process, about which I expect to comment more fully soon,
